SEC invited Bids for Synchronous Condenser Plants Phase II in KSA. Theses are the first of their kind in Kingdom, as Synchronous Condenser Plants were never installed before in the Kingdom.
These projects involve the development of a cutting-edge synchronous condenser plants. The work scope includes the design, manufacturing, and installation of a fully operational synchronous condenser plant. Along with all necessary auxiliary equipment, at multiple locations. This plant will connect to the existing 380 kV GIS substations and will encompass all essential interfaces, such as civil, electrical, mechanical, control and protection, and telecommunications, to ensure proper integration.
Synchronous Condenser Plants Phase II
The total amount of 3450 MVA synchronous condensers ( SCs ) equipment’s at six (6) 380 kV substations in COA, WOA, EOA & SOA as described in below.
The installation of synchronous condenser to improve the voltage profile, frequency fluctuation support, system inertia and short circuit power. And further to enhance the system stability and reliability of KSA Power System. This is required for adequately integration of renewable energy sources (RES) integration to the Saudi Grid.
