SSEM awarded New HVDC OHTL Project

Saudi Services for Electro Mechanic works SSEM awarded new HVDC OHTL Project ±500kV worth $505 million. This is Portion 3 of new Double VSC HVDC Overhead Transmission Line for COA-SOA Interconnection Link that is 381 kM long.

The new Double VSC HVDC Overhead Transmission Line for COA-SOA Interconnection Link involves constructing a total of 1,089 km of ultra-high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission lines from the PP14 power plant in Riyadh to the coastal region of Kudmi in the Southwest. The Project consisted 3 portions. Each portion is awarded to different contractor.

HVDC COA-SOA Interconnection Participant Bidders

Following were the Participants in HVDC COA-SOA Bidding.

  • Al-Gihaz Contracting Co.
  • SAUDI SERVICES FOR ELECTRO MECHANIC WORK (Awarded portion 3)
  • LARSEN & TOUBRO SAUDI ARABIA LLC (Awarded portion 2)
  • BRANCH OF HYUNDAI ENGINEERING&CONSTRUCT (Awarded portion 1)
  • NATIONAL CONTRACTING COMPANY LIMITED
  • ALFANAR PROJECTS CO.
  • AL-SHARIF GROUP & KEC CO. LTD.

Hyundai E&C awarded Portion 1. Portion 1 spans 369 km and It is the Biggest portion of HVDC COA-SOA Interconnection. The project price was $725 millionand the construction is expected to be completed by January 2027.

Portion 2 of the HVDC COA-SOA Interconnection link was awarded to L&T that costs $403.8 million.
